Apple Replays Past Mistakes

Here’s my Tech News World column marveling at how Steve Jobs is making the same mistake he made 20 years ago with the Mac OS by trying to lock other companies out of the iPod. That strategy didn’t work so well with the OS and you’d think he would have learned something from that. Microsoft’s got to be laughing.

Sonia: Great column on Steve Jobs’s deja vu mistake re: iPod. As a loyal Mac user, it is appalling that Apple only has 4 percentof the market given the quality of their product. Although I’m absolutely no fan of Michael Eisner (someone needs to save Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto from that man), one can really see why he and Jobs got into a monster ego battle over Pixar’s future with Disney. In the case of Apple, the market justly punishes the short-sighted egomaniac. Indeed, the market, like the Bible, doesn’t like the sin of pride. Keep the good work coming. –Lance Izumi
