Child who had 6 organs removed leaves hospital

Surgeons had to remove 6 organs just to get a cancerous tumor out of 7 year-old Heather McNamara’s abdomen. 3 of her 6 organs were found to have cancer, so they replaced her stomach with a pouch and she will be diabetic now that she no longer has a pancreas. Her spleen is also gone, which may make her more prone to infection. That said, this is a much better outcome than death from cancer. Here’s the full story at USA Today.
